Located on Canada's west coast, the region provides some of North America’s most unspoilt landscapes. Nowhere is this better exemplified than the stunning Canadian Rockies. Shared with neighbouring Alberta, the expansive mountain range is home to world-renowned destinations such as Banff and Lake Louise. A popular stop on many British Columbia tours, Jasper National Park plays host to an impressive trail network and the dramatic Athabasca Glacier. The famous Rocky Mountaineer train, meanwhile, offers ample extraordinary scenery, particularly along the 'Kicking Horse' route between Banff and Vancouver.

From Vancouver's buzzing culinary scene and impressive suspension bridge to the historical treasures in Victoria, there's something to suit all tastes in the province. The provincial park system offers green surroundings close to the region's cities, with 405-hectare Stanley Park providing access to the waters of the Burrard Inlet as well as golf, dining and its own train. Those looking for something more active can take advantage of the province's many ski resorts, including the popular Sun Peaks.

British Columbia is home to a great variety of locally produced beverages, including a wealth of red, white and ice wines, as well as a thriving craft beer scene. Those visiting Banff may also like to sample the town's own tipple - the B-52 - a cocktail layered with coffee liqueur, Irish cream and orange liqueur.
