Stretching from the commune of Source-Seine in Burgundy to Normandy's Le Havre and into the English Channel, the Seine offers great diversity in its scenery and attractions. Many Seine cruises begin in the capital of Paris, offering the chance to spend time wandering the city's enthralling streets. There are ample things to do and see here, from visiting some of the world's most famous paintings in grand galleries to enjoying a moment's respite in a traditional bar while partaking in a spot of people-watching. Another popular Seine hotspot is historic Rouen. Other popular spots on the Seine include the pretty commune of Les Andelys, home to the imposing remains of Chateau Gaillard, built by Richard the Lionheart in 1196, and Vernon, a charming medieval town boasting half-timbered buildings, a castle and the Musée Alphonse-Georges Poulain, which houses artworks by Monet. Near the town lies Claude Monet’s famous gardens in Giverny.
