Inside Petra, there is the Khaznah (“Treasury”), Al-Dayr (“the Monastery”) an incomplete tomb facade, and The High Place of Sacrifice, an altar dating to biblical times. It also comprises a complex and intricate water management system, which allowed civilisations to thrive here despite the arid desert landscape.
