Inside our itineraries Q&A series: Chasing the fall foliage
Get the inside track on how to best experience one of the world’s most striking natural phenomena – the arrival of North America’s magnificent fall colours – with our Product Manager, Richard Harrington.
While North America’s great outdoors offers a feast for the senses all year round, it’s no secret that some of the most impressive sights are reserved for the autumn. From witnessing New England’s rural stretches swept by russet reds and fiery oranges to feeling the chill along Canada’s evergreen river valleys, the fall brings with it a whole host of unique experiences that simply can’t be found anywhere else.
We’ve been talking to one of our Product Managers, Richard, for some expert insight into everything from wish-list stops which should top any travel itinerary to the local delicacies you can enjoy along the way, and here’s what he had to say:
1. What is the expected weather during the tour dates, and what should customers pack?
The weather will be chilly but with the crisp feel of autumn. You’ll hopefully experience some blue skies and crisp clean air!
2. What can customers expect from a fall colours tour?
The main attraction is the miles and miles of trees covering the hills and valleys with every one of them – apart from the evergreens – turning through dramatic shades of red, brown, orange and purple. The backdrop of the blue sea as you head down the coast is a surprising contrast.
3. What are some must-try dishes for them to taste during the tours?
Make sure to sample a bowl of clam chowder and some lobster rolls.
4. What is a must-do fall colours excursion that we offer?
Enjoy the city tours – make the most of New York and Boston and hear from local guides who will bring them to life.
5. Are there any scenic drives specifically included to showcase the fall colours?
You can expect great views from Quechee Gorge and as you travel over the majestically scenic Kancamangus Highway.
6. Which locations on the tours offer the most impressive fall foliage?
As you journey north through Vermont and New Hampshire and then into Maine, the wide-open countryside shows off the trees at their best.
7. Will there be a knowledgeable guide on hand?
Yes! There will be a tour manager with you from start to finish, making sure that you don’t miss a thing.
